Action Day to Ban Uranium Weapons

Agenda | 04 November 2004 Security

November 6 has been set by UN as the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict. The International Coalition to Ban Uranium Weapons (ICBUW) calls upon you to rise to the occasion and engage in actions to ban uranium weapons.

What can you do? Sign the Petition to Ban Uranium Weapons or check out the International Program for events in your country. For events in the Netherlands and Belgium, see below.

The Netherlands

Asser Institute, The Hague, November 6, 13:30

  • Lectures and experts in debate, with Keith Baverstock and Manfred Mohr. For more information contact ICBUW (Netherlands) at info@bandepleteduranium.org.

Belgium

Brussels, November 5

  • There will be a visit to the Prime Minister, and to the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, to hand over a copy of the collected petition signatures. During these meetings the Coalition’s demands concerning uranium weapons will be conveyed.
  • At the same time outside the buildings, there will be some actions to visualize the aims. Leaflets, petition forms and booklets will be available at an info-table.
  • In the early evening a grassroots supporters gathering will take place in front of the stairs of the Beurs-building to announce the results of our negotiations with the governmental bodies.
